LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University (EOU) is creating a unique opportunity for high school students to connect with EOU faculty.
Faculty Spotlights will be held every Thursday from Jan. 11 through March 7 in the EOU HUB located in La Grande High School. EOU professors will explain the subjects they teach, giving high school students the chance to experience college early and often.
Each session begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. Subjects and dates are as follows:
Jan. 11 – Chemistry and Biology
Jan 18 – Education and Math
Feb. 1 – Theatre
Feb. 8 – Business and Agriculture Entrepreneurship
Feb. 15 – Anthropology
Feb. 22 – Sustainable Rural Communities
Feb. 29 – Video Game Design
March 7 – Spanish and Data Analytics
“Faculty Spotlights are not just about showcasing academics; they are a bridge connecting the worlds of high school and university education.” Kathleen Brown, EOU’s Associate Director of Early College Initiatives, said. ”The goal is to demystify college life, inspire curiosity, and provide a glimpse into an array of subjects awaiting students beyond their high school years.”
