LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University professor Andrew David Bjork, a seasoned theoretical mathematician, has recently returned from a transformative sabbatical in France. During this period, Bjork delved into the realms of epistemology, didactics of mathematics, and constructivism, seeking a deeper understanding of teaching theories to enhance his pedagogical practices.
This will be the focus of his Colloquium on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in room 210, Ackerman Hall.
Recognizing the importance of bridging theory with practical application, and fueled by a passion for exploring innovative teaching methodologies, Bjork embarked on a journey to integrate these theories into his educational framework.
The Colloquium draws inspiration from Bjork’s experiences during his sabbatical, where he collaborated with researchers from the University of Bordeaux, the University of Grenoble, and the University of Nice Cote d’Azur.
The presentation should be a valuable resource for educators, researchers, and anyone interested in the evolving landscape of teaching methodologies.
