Experiential Leaning:Candidates will gain hands-on experience in facilities management and custodial services. You will learn how to efficiently clean and maintain various areas, including bathrooms, kitchenettes, and living spaces. This role provides an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge of chemistry and environmental science to real-world tasks, enhancing your understanding of cleaning agents and their effects on different surfaces. Additionally, you will develop operational efficiency skills by managing time and resources effectively in a high-traffic environment.
Professional Development:As a Student Summer Cleaning Crew Member, you will develop essential professional skills that are highly valued in any career. This includes teamwork and collaboration, attention to detail, work ethic and professionalism, and adaptability. You will also gain an understanding of workplace safety regulations, particularly regarding the use of cleaning chemicals and maintaining a safe working environment. The role includes opportunities for job-specific training provided by the Custodial Services department and professional development activities such as resume reviews and career exploration events offered by Career Services.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Clean and sanitize bathrooms and showers.
– Clean kitchenettes and appliances like refrigerators and microwaves.
– Vacuum carpets and clean room furniture.
– Work as part of a team to ensure all areas are ready for incoming camps and events.
Minimum Qualifications:– Current EOU student available to start during finals week.
– Ability to work flexible hours including weekends as required by camp schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:– Previous experience in cleaning or maintenance roles preferred but not required.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Good teamwork skills.
– Reliable and punctual.
– Attentive to detail.
