Experiential Learning:Students in this position will apply marketing principles in a real-world setting by developing promotional strategies, engaging with target audiences, and managing event-related marketing initiatives. They will gain experience in content creation, social media engagement, and branding while also learning how to analyze marketing effectiveness. Through collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners, students will develop essential communication and problem-solving skills.
Professional Development:This position provides hands-on training in Canva and social media platforms such as Instagram. Students will also participate in career exploration activities through Career Services, attend the EO Career Expo Career-Ready & Work-Search Clinics on the first Wednesday in April, and receive resume reviews from Career Services and WorkSource Oregon.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Formulate the value proposition of EOU students attending the career expo event.
– Create and implement a communication plan for students, staff, and faculty.
– Collaborate with the Eastern Oregon Workforce Board contact for community event promotion.
– Develop engaging content and images for social media platforms, print media, and student/staff news platforms.
– Effectively distribute printed promotional materials.
– Collaborate with other campus departments to cross-promote the career expo and connected activities.
– Create and maintain records of marketing and promotions implemented for the career expo.
Minimum Qualifications:– Currently enrolled at EOU with at least 6 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate).
– In good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or higher).
– Pass a background check pending employment offer.
– Desire to learn and excel at event planning and marketing in a team-oriented environment.
– Foundational base knowledge of marketing principles and practices through completed coursework and/or experience.
– Familiarity with Canva
– Familiarity with social media platforms
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience with event promotion.
– Experience with social media posting for marketing purposes.
– Marketing and/or Communications major
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Ability to develop storytelling and storyselling through social media engagement, digital media, and print media.
– Aspiration to develop the knowledge and skills involved in creating unique marketing campaigns and visuals.
– Skill of networking, engaging audiences, and building connections through marketing campaigns.
– Learning agility demonstrated by the willingness to learn new tools, trends, and marketing strategies.
