Career Expo Event Production Student Assistant

The annual spring Eastern Oregon Career Expo is a campus event connecting EOU students to local, regional, and statewide employers. The Event Production Student position assists Career Services with planning and coordinating the event, bringing student employment opportunities to all EOU students. This role involves project management, event logistics, student engagement, and ensuring a successful event. Monday – Friday; between school hours (8-4pm).

Experiential Learning:Students in this role will gain valuable experience in project management, event planning, and professional communication. They will have the opportunity to develop organizational skills, solve problems, and build leadership experience while working with multiple stakeholders. Additionally, students will learn how to coordinate logistics, manage deadlines, and engage in employer and student outreach to ensure a well-run event.
Professional Development:Students in this role will receive hands-on training related to event planning and coordination. They will have the opportunity to participate in career exploration activities through Career Services, attend the EO Career Expo Career-Ready & Work-Search Clinics on the first Wednesday in April, and receive resume reviews from Career Services and WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help students develop practical skills applicable to future career opportunities.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Build on the event’s current planning guide creating an updated start-to-finish document.
– Construct a detailed event project plan including all major tasks, timelines, and checklists.
– Oversee event setup, execution, and teardown, ensuring all aspects run smoothly.
– Assist in the management of all staff and student volunteer group communications and tasks.
– Share in the management of employer relations including registration communications and on-site customer service.
– Collaborate with the marketing lead for the creation and implementation of an event communication plan.
– Assist in the design and administration of surveys to measure event satisfaction, student engagement, and event impact.
Minimum Qualifications:– Currently enrolled at EOU with at least 6 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate)
– In good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or higher)
– Pass a background check pending employment offer.
– Experience in event planning or related activities.
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience in project coordination and event success. 
– Experience in relationship-building for planning processes.
