Experiential Leaning:As a Life Drawing Nude Model, you will gain practical experience in modeling for visual arts education. You will develop body awareness and an understanding of how artists capture human forms and postures. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to the educational experiences of art students and enhance your appreciation for the discipline of drawing from life.
Professional Development:This position offers numerous professional development opportunities. You will receive job-specific training provided by the Art Department and participate in University-wide training events. Additionally, you will have access to multicultural-sponsored training activities, career exploration activities via Career Services, and resume reviews with Career Services and/or WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help you build professional competencies such as reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow detailed instructions within a specific work context.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Be comfortable being nude in front of a small class (approximately 8 students) of dedicated upper-division art students while they draw.
– Ability to hold still for long periods of time, with pose times ranging from 30 seconds up to 30 minutes.
– Work with faculty for orientation and training about Art 230 drawing needs.
– Sit quietly and relax into the process of modeling for drawing.
– Pose in comfortable, natural positions to avoid overexertion.
Minimum Qualifications:– Attending EOU (on-campus or online) and enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits.
– In good academic standing.
– 18 years of age or older.
– Ability to hold still for long periods of time is necessary when modeling for drawing.
– Ability to come prepared with a robe and slip-on shoes.
Preferred Qualifications:– Previous experience as a model for art classes is desirable but not required.
– Comfort with maintaining stillness for extended periods.
– Professional attitude and respect for the classroom setting and its educational goals.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Body Awareness: Understanding of how to control and maintain body positions for extended periods.
Comfort with Nudity: Comfort in maintaining professionalism while nude in a classroom setting.
Patience and Stamina: Ability to hold poses for anywhere from a few seconds up to half an hour.
Reliability: Dependable attendance and punctuality to ensure that class sessions can proceed as scheduled without disruption.
Professionalism: Maintaining a professional demeanor in interactions with students and faculty.
Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to different posing requirements and responsiveness to the instructional needs of the art professor.
Respect for Diversity and Inclusion: Ability to interact respectfully in a diverse academic environment.
Communication Skills: Effective communication with the instructor and students to clarify posing requirements and provide feedback on class needs.
