Type of work schedule Part-time; availability required between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be scheduled based on departmental needs, particularly during peak periods like the beginning and end of academic terms.

Experiential Leaning:As a Shipping & Receiving Student Worker, you will gain practical experience in logistics and postal services. You will develop skills in using office technologies and equipment to input, track, and report daily postage and shipping. This role provides an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge from your coursework in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration to real-world shipping and receiving operations.
Professional Development:This position offers numerous professional development opportunities. You will receive job-specific training provided by the Shipping & Receiving Department and participate in University-wide training events. Additionally, you will have access to multicultural-sponsored training activities, career exploration activities via Career Services, and resume reviews with Career Services and/or WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help you build professional competencies such as time management, problem-solving, and effective communication, preparing you for diverse career paths in logistics and postal services.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Assist with sorting and delivering daily student and departmental on-campus and off-campus mail.
– Utilize standard and specialized office technologies and equipment to input, track, and report daily postage and shipping.
– Work one-on-one with the Shipping & Receiving Staff on various projects and tasks.
– Engage the EOU community with shipping and receiving needs.
– Maintain a professional demeanor at all times and demonstrate a commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications:– Must be attending EOU and enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate credits per term (on-campus or online).
– Must be in good academic standing.
– Federal Work Study Award recommended.
– Must have a current and valid driver’s license and be able to pass a driving record check.
– Must be available between 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, to assist in delivering campus mail.
Preferred Qualifications:– Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills when working with colleagues, students, and the public.
– Prior work in an office setting or similar work environment is preferred but not required.
– Professional work ethic and independent time management skills.
– Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to respond quickly.
– Flexibility and a positive attitude about working in a fast-paced environment.
– Detail-oriented on various tasks and projects.
– Demonstrated experience working with diverse student and community populations.
