Experiential Learning:As an Art Studio Worker, you will gain practical skills in studio management and operations, complementing your theoretical art studies. You will develop hands-on experience in maintaining and operating an art studio, preparing you for roles in studio management, art production, and gallery operations.
Professional Development:This position offers numerous professional development opportunities. You will receive job-specific training provided by the Visual Performing Arts Education Program and participate in University-wide training events. Additionally, you will have access to multicultural-sponsored training activities, career exploration activities via Career Services, and resume reviews with Career Services and/or WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help you build professional competencies such as organization, attention to detail, and multitasking, preparing you for diverse career paths in the arts.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Work one-on-one with the Visual Performing Arts Education Assistant daily on various projects and tasks.
– Sweep, mop, and spray down studio floors.
– Learn and implement special cleaning methods.
– Organize and label tools and materials.
– Use Microsoft Office for making signs and/or inventory.
– Learn to use a laminator.
– Learn to use basic hand tools and run small equipment.
– Follow safety protocols specific to the studio environment.
Minimum Qualifications:– Must be an on-campus student with federal financial aid-approved work-study awarded.
– Excellent organizational skills.
– Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
– Experience with following detailed instructions and multitasking.
– Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
– Availability to work scheduled shifts between Monday and Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, depending on student availability.
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience in an art studio setting.
– Experience organizing and cleaning physical spaces.
– Strong problem-solving skills, great attention to detail, and self-starter attitude.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Familiarity with art materials and studio equipment.
– Capability to follow complex instructions and work independently on tasks.
– Physical stamina and ability to handle tasks requiring manual labor.
– Commitment to maintaining a safe and inspiring environment for creativity.
