Event Staff
This is a low-stress, homework-friendly position that provides structured work hours while representing the department with superior customer service. As an Event Staff member with Event & Conference Services, you’ll assist with light office tasks such as scanning documents and scheduling facilities. Occasionally, you may help with event setup and breakdown. This role offers a flexible and quiet work environment, making it a great opportunity to gain office experience while balancing work and school.

Experiential Learning: | Students will learn about event management, office systems, and facility scheduling. This role provides exposure to the behind-the-scenes logistics of event planning, including setup, breakdown, and coordinating facility reservations. These skills are transferable to careers in hospitality, operations, and administrative roles. |
Professional Development: | Students will receive training in scheduling software and Google Suite, preparing them for roles that require organizational and technical skills. The supervisor will provide coaching and guidance to support professional growth throughout the role. |
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions: | – Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed. – Scan and organize documents to maintain digital records. – Coordinate facility scheduling using designated software (training provided). – Provide general office support, including organizing files and assisting with administrative tasks. – Maintain professionalism and accuracy in all assigned tasks. – Maintain and update your own resume during the course of employment, ensuring it is professional and ready for future job applications by the end of the position. |
Minimum Qualifications: | – Must be in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). – Must have Federal Work Study eligibility. – Demonstrable attention to detail and ability to complete tasks accurately. – Viable examples of working independently and staying on task. – Basic competency with office technology (scanners, computers, Google Suite preferred but not required). |
Preferred Qualifications: | – Previous experience in event setup or facility coordination. – Entry-level professional competency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar). |
