Experiential Leaning:As a Financial Aid Office Student Worker, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the financial aid process, learning how federal, state, and institutional aid supports students in their educational journey. This role will provide you with hands-on experience in data entry, document processing, and office management, helping you to develop a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality. Through interactions with students, staff, and visitors, you will enhance your customer service and communication skills, which are crucial in any professional setting.
Professional Development:As a Financial Aid Office Student Worker, you will develop essential professional skills, including organization, communication, and technical proficiency, while gaining hands-on experience in a higher education setting. You’ll enhance your customer service abilities by assisting students and staff, all while learning to manage tasks efficiently and maintain accurate records. Additionally, you’ll have access to department-specific training and opportunities for career growth, helping you build a strong foundation for your future career.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:Ninety percent – Data Entry:
– Enter financial aid data into the system.
– Keep student records accurate and confidential.
Eight percent – Office Tasks and Reception:
– Perform general office duties: copying, scanning, faxing, and managing supplies.
– Maintain a tidy and organized office and reception area.
– Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, and visitors in person, by phone, and via email.
One percent – Communication:
– Help prepare and send out financial aid information through emails, newsletters, and other materials.
One percent – Special Projects:
– Assist with special projects or research as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:– Must be a currently enrolled student at Eastern Oregon University and in good academic standing.
– Attention to Detail: The ability to maintain precise and accurate records is crucial to ensure compliance with financial aid regulations.
– Dependability: Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:– Familiarity with the university’s student information systems or other relevant software.
– Ability to keep accurate records and manage sensitive information confidentially.
– Proficiency in database systems.
– Previous office experience, especially in customer service or administrative roles.
– Involvement in student leadership activities.
