Experiential Leaning:As an Intramural Student Worker, you will gain practical experience in sports administration, event planning, and participant coordination. This role provides an excellent opportunity to apply knowledge of sports management and physical education to real-world recreational settings, enhancing your understanding of group dynamics and event organization.
Professional Development:This position offers numerous professional development opportunities. You will receive job-specific training provided by the Athletics Department and participate in University-wide training events. Additionally, you will have access to multicultural-sponsored training activities, career exploration activities via Career Services, and resume reviews with Career Services and/or WorkSource Oregon. These experiences will help you build professional competencies such as communication, leadership, and conflict resolution, preparing you for diverse career paths in sports management, coaching, or any field requiring teamwork and quick decision-making.
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Setup and clean up equipment for intramurals.
– Officiate intramural games.
– Keep score and time during intramural games.
– Monitor court/field play and behavior of participants.
– Provide support to the staff during intramural games.
– Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:– Knowledge in basic rules of the game you are working.
– Must be a full-time EOU student.
– Knowledge or background in sports.
– Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
– Experience with following detailed instructions and multitasking.
– Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, genders, and cultures.
– Ability to positively and professionally represent the Eastern Oregon University Intramural staff in all encounters.
– Flexibility to work irregular hours, including nights.
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience in officiating sports games.
– Strong organizational and time management skills.
– Ability to work well under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with participants and resolve conflicts.
– Knowledge of various sports rules and the ability to apply them fairly and consistently.
– Physical ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly as needed during games.
