This position offers hands-on experience in the area of IT support and will expand the student’s technical skills, professionalism, problem-solving, and learning how to work in a fast-pace, independent work environment. Experiential Learning: | Students will apply communication concepts by interacting with the department staff and EOU staff requesting IT services. Student’s writing competency will increase by creating documentation and training materials. Students will learn industry knowledge about PC-compatible hardware, Help Desk functions, and software installation. |
Professional Development: | Student employees are provided on-the-job training with configuring computer equipment in a networked environment and various software applications. |
Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions: | – Help Desk support via phone and electronic inquiries – PC-compatible hardware transport (up to 50 lbs) setup and troubleshooting assistance – Software installation according to security and licensing guidelines – Documentation development and maintenance for projects – Microsoft Office, web browsers, Adobe Acrobat and other software applications support – Additional duties as assigned by IT staff such as clerical tasks supporting the department |
Minimum Qualifications: | – Enrollment in at least 6 undergraduate credits at EOU; 9 graduate credits – In good academic standing |
Preferred Qualifications: | – Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Suite – Basic hardware/software troubleshooting |
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: | – Interpersonal skills and customer service experience – Experience with computing equipment and effectively using problem-solving skills |
