Experiential Learning:As a Podcast Student Technician, you will gain hands-on experience in the technical aspects of podcast production. You will learn how to operate professional audio equipment, manage a recording environment, and apply editing techniques to enhance sound quality. This role will provide direct exposure to industry standard software, including Logic Pro X, and workflows used in podcast creation and distribution. Additionally, you will develop skills in content organization, metadata management, and digital file storage while ensuring that podcast episodes are properly formatted and published. Through this role, you will also build problem-solving skills as you troubleshoot technical issues that arise during recording and post-production. Your work will contribute to Career Talk, a podcast designed to help students explore career-related topics, giving you the opportunity to apply creativity while working in a structured production setting.
Professional Development:EOU student employees have an opportunity to engage in professional development and training as a part of the job.  Supervisors support the attainment of professional development by either providing internal department-specific training and/or time reassigned from normally scheduled duties to participate in University-wide training opportunities including appropriate virtual community training opportunities.

– Paid time to learn Spotify hosting software.
– Career exploration activities via Career Services.

Summary of Job Duties/Responsibilities/Essential Functions:– Set up & maintain the podcast studio (arrange furniture, keep space organized).
– Operate and oversee audio equipment during recording sessions.
– Use industry-standard software for recording and editing content.
– Assist podcast hosts & guests to ensure smooth recordings.
– Troubleshoot technical issues with audio and equipment.
– Edit and publish podcast episodes, adding intros, outros, and metadata.
– Upload episodes to hosting platforms and manage distribution.
– Maintain a digital archive of past episodes and monitor listener engagement.
– Research social media integration for podcast promotion.
Minimum Qualifications:– Currently enrolled at EOU with at least 6 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate).
– In good academic standing (GPA 2.0 or higher).
– Pass a background check pending employment offer.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Strong focus, dependability, and commitment to completing projects.
Preferred Qualifications:– Experience with audio equipment and/or software.
– Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms (e.g., Spotify).
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:– Knowledge of audio editing software (e.g., Logic Pro X).
