Dr. Schuermann is currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor in the state of Florida, and has been licensed in Louisiana and Texas as well. She holds a Masters of Science in Community Counseling from Loyola University New Orleans, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Schuermann’s academic areas of specialization include trauma, specifically trauma in children and trauma from disasters, and pedagogy and supervision in Counselor Education. Her clinical areas of expertise are treating children, trauma recovery, and creative therapy approaches. Dr. Schuermann has published over 20 peer reviewed articles, and presented at over 40 international, national, and regional conferences. Her awards include the CORE Journal’s Outstanding Outcome Research Article Award and the Rosser Educator Excellence Award.

Dr. McNichols is licensed as a professional counselor and supervisor in the state of Texas and is Board Certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors. She has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and an M.S. in Counseling from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi, and a B.A. in English from The University of Colorado- Boulder. Her clinical experience focuses on challenges impacting women’s mental health and well-being and the prevention of family violence. Her research interests include counselor supervision and practice in rural communities, postmodern approaches to counseling, creative approaches to counseling and counselor training, poetry therapy, and the development of self-reflective practice.

Dr. Rochelle Cade, PH.D., LPC-S (TX)

Dr. Rochelle Cade earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Masters of Science in Counseling, and Doctor of Philosophy  in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) whose clinical work is predominantly in correctional settings and counselor training clinics. She is an active member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) with service on the Editorial Advisory Board. Dr. Cade is also active in two ACA divisions, the International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselors (IAAOC) and the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC). In IAAOC, Dr. Cade currently serves as Past President and Associate Editor of the Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling. In AARC, she has served as Treasurer and is currently a member of the editorial board for one of the division journals, Counseling Outcome and Research Evaluation. At the state level, Dr. Cade serves as President of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA) and is a Past President of the Texas Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (TAARC).

Dr. Jessica Lloyd-Hazlett, PH.D., LPC-S (TX)

Dr. Jessica Lloyd-Hazlett is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (TX). She previously served as co-director of a university-based family counseling clinic providing free services to more than 300 clients per year. Dr. Lloyd-Hazlett is a Subaward Principal Investigator (PI) on a 4-year $807,000 Health Resources & Services Administration Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training (BHWET) grant providing specialized training in integrated behavioral healthcare to clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, social work, and clinical psychology trainees. She is recipient of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Teaching and Pine-Biggs ASERVIC Journal Article of the Year Awards. Dr. Lloyd-Hazlett’s research interests include cognitive development, pedagogy in counselor education and supervision, professional ethics, and primary care behavioral health. She enjoys spending time outdoors, painting, traveling, and loving on her two kitties, Knut and Bumfuzzle.

Dr. Derek Robertson, PH.D., LPC-S (TX), LPC (VA)

Derek Robertson, PhD, LPC-S has been practicing counseling for 30 years and is licensed in Texas and Virginia. He has worked with a wide range of clients such as children in the foster care system, LGBTQ+ communities, and military families. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas Tech University and in 2013 earned his Ph.D. from the College of William and Mary. Since then, he helped secure over $2.5 million in external funding, most of this was from Victims of Crime Act grants to serve the communities south of San Antonio, Texas, affected by a mass shooting. His research agenda has focused on raising the voices of marginalized communities and using cultural immersion experiences to increase self-awareness and multicultural humility in counseling students. He has received the Outstanding Article Award from the Journal of Counselor Education and Supervision and the Bigg-Pine ASERVIC Journal Award. He, his husband Steve, and their little dog Didi love to be on the water and have recently taken up sailing.

Jamie’s responsibilities include administrative support for the faculty, staff and students for the College of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Health Sciences, specifically focusing on the Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Jamie grew up in a small town in eastern Idaho.  Jamie moved to La Grande with her husband and two children in 2006 when her husband bought an aircraft repair business allowing them to live in his hometown. In 2016, Jamie graduated from EOU with a bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management. In her spare time, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family and crafting. She has made everything from greeting cards and home decor, to movie props.
