University Community,
Gov. Kate Brown announced Monday that beginning on March 12, the states of Oregon, California and Washington collaboratively will no longer require masks to be worn in indoor public places. The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) rules requiring masks to be worn in indoor public places and schools will be lifted after 11:59 p.m. on March 11. Union County’s health authority, CHD, Inc., has indicated that it is aligned with statewide guidance.
Beginning March 12 in most EOU settings, masks will be welcomed, but not required. State and federal requirements for wearing masks in healthcare settings (including the Student Health Center), within public transit, and in other specialized settings will remain in place at this time.
In accordance with the changes in statewide requirements, EOU will suspend enforcement of its COVID-19 Pandemic Face Covering Policy. Masks continue to be available near building entrances throughout campus.
EOU will continue to monitor confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases and will remain in contact with local and state health officials as we assess changes in other safety and health protocols, such as vaccination documentation, daily health reporting, and quarantine practices.
Safety and health reminders
Students with questions should contact Student Affairs (saffairs@eou.edu) or call the COVID Hotline at 541-962-3260. Student-athletes should contact EOU trainers regarding ongoing requirements related to intercollegiate athletics. Employees with questions should contact their supervisor or Human Resources (hr-group@eou.edu).
Sincerely,
Executive Leadership Team
