Eastern Oregon University is currently updating the information on these pages in accordance with public health guidance and recommendations. For questions regarding this page, please contact Student Affairs at saffairs@eou.edu.
N95/KN95 masks are highly effective at protecting the wearer, and are available near building entrances for those who would like to use them. Click here for information from the CDC about the effectiveness of N95/KN95 masks.
Wash your hands when you return home from a public space, after using the restroom and before preparing food. Proper hand-washing takes at least 20 seconds, and includes scrubbing your palms, wrists, fingers and thumbs with soap under warm water. If you can’t use soap and water, use hand sanitizer with 60% to 95% alcohol content.
See below for more details.
Please go to vaccine.gov to find a location near you to get a vaccine or booster.
Contact Student Affairs (saffairs@eou.edu) or the Student Health Center (541-962-3524) for questions.
Student Affairs has limited free at-home rapid COVID tests available for students who would like to use them. Click here for information about free at-home rapid tests for all community members.

The Student Health Center is open during the school year, Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and 1 to 5 p.m., and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Please visit eou.edu/health for more information.
The EOU Student Health Center is following Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Oregon Health Authority (OHA) guidance regarding priorities for COVID-19 testing in Oregon.
Currently, testing is recommended for individuals who have symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea). Testing is also recommended for those who do not have symptoms (asymptomatic) but are identified as close contacts of a confirmed case, regardless of vaccination status. If you have been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID, it is recommended to have a test done 5-7 days after your exposure.
Students who are ill or are concerned about needing a test for one of the above reasons should call the Student Health Center to get an appointment.
The Student Health Center, in order to try to limit the number of students in the clinic at one time and maintain social distancing, requests that you call before walking in to be seen.
The Student Health Center staff will visit with each student individually and determine the best time for a student to come into the Student Health Center if a test or further evaluation is needed to minimize exposure to other students.
If after visiting with one of the providers at the Student Health Center it is determined that a student needs COVID testing, the student will be given an appointment time to come in for nasal swab PCR COVID-19 testing. Students may also access testing through their primary care provider. COVID-19 tests are covered by most private insurance plans and the Oregon Health Plan, if ordered for one of the reasons described previously. Students should call their insurance provider to verify coverage. In many cases, insurance will not pay for COVID testing if it is done for purely screening for work or school, or travel purposes. There is also a program available that pays for testing for students who meet the CDC and OHA guidelines above, who do not have health insurance.

The Counseling Center will be providing HIPAA-secured Zoom sessions for individual counseling sessions and consults with students, faculty and staff. No in-person appointments will be offered at this time due to the difficulty of providing in-person services while still meeting COVID mandates around safe practices.
Because the two therapists are licensed/registered to practice therapy within the state of Oregon only, you must be in Oregon to receive services. Due to the limitations of telehealth services, students with any chronic or crisis type of struggle will be encouraged to seek services within their local community. Check out the Counseling Center website (eou.edu/counsel) for more information regarding current practices.
Please refer to CDC website for guidelines for isolation regarding COVID-19 positive (CDC website link).
