The application for EOU High School Summer Institutes opens January 15, 2024, with summer institutest beginning in mid-june.
Cottonwood Crossing Summer Institute

Cottonwood Crossing

Cottonwood Crossing Summer Institute (CCSI) is a week-long residential field studies program for high school students currently in grades 9-12. Participants choose from five course options where they learn about locally significant cultural or natural resources. Projects are led by EOU faculty, EOU Capstone students, and other regional professionals.

MedQuest

MedQuest health career exploration camp gives students an exclusive look at the world of healthcare during a week-long camp. Students get to try out college dorm life, shadow health professionals, sit in on fascinating presentations and medical panels, and much more. MedQuest will connect you with new friends, resources and unique learning opportunities!

Eastern Oregon Teacher Academy

The Eastern Oregon Teacher Academy at Eastern Oregon University (EOU), sponsored by The College of Education, aims to graduate the brightest high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.  Opportunities also exist for current paraprofessionals in the field to participate.  All participants will have the chance to earn EOU credit.

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Institute

This year’s theme:

  • Working the Fields: An Exploration of Community
    • Community development focus on latino cultural and economic influence on Eastern Oregon
  • Objectives
    • Understanding the role of latino culture in the community
    • Recognizing the student’s role in bringing positive change
    • Meet and interact with community leaders
    • Reflect upon your engagement
    • Explore the myriad Latin influences in American musical practice

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS) plays a crucial role in a student’s college education, providing them with a broad and thorough understanding of human culture, history, philosophy, literature, language, and the arts. In the CAHSS Summer Institute, students explore today’s society through cultural, political, and social lenses. They delve into exciting areas such as digital music creation, language and cultural elements of specific regions, and public service by grasping political issues and policy ideas.  The main goal is to contribute to making the world a better place! By understanding their role and the roles of others in society, students can actively contribute to the growth of societies, both locally and globally. This dynamic learning environment involves interacting with EOU faculty and students from various regions, making the educational experience engaging and enriching.

College of Science, Technology, Mathematics, & Health Sciences Institute

This year’s theme:

Human Connections: Microbes, Disease, and the Animal World

The College of Science, Technology, Mathematics and Health Sciences (STMHS) equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset essential for success in a fast-changing world.  Students engage with science and health fundamentals to cultivate problem-solving abilities, contribute to technological progress, and enhance human well-being. While exploring opportunities in health and science, students witness the potential impact they can make on their community and the world, delving into microscopic levels of understanding.  By understanding their role and the roles of others in society, students can make smart decisions and help societies grow, both locally and globally. This dynamic learning environment involves interaction with EOU faculty and students from across the region.

College of Business Institute

The College of Business (COB) provides students with a comprehensive education, preparing them for various roles in the business world. The COB Summer Institute offers students the chance to explore the basics of business, marketing, communication, and entrepreneurship. During the institute, students will work on creating the different components of a pop up business and what is needed for it to be a success.

At the COB Institute, students also learn important skills like networking (connecting with people) and adapting to changes in their future work environments. These skills help them stay updated on what’s happening in different industries and handle challenges that may arise. Understanding their role and the roles of others in society empowers students to make informed decisions that contribute to the growth of both local and global communities.

This lively learning environment involves interacting with EOU faculty and students from various regions, making the educational experience engaging and valuable.

High School Mathematics Competition

EOU Mathematics Competition

The state of Oregon holds an annual High School Mathematics Skills Competition. Competitors in the State competition must first place as a top finisher of one of the many regional qualifying competitions held throughout Oregon. Eastern Oregon University holds one of these annual regional competition every year on the third Tuesday of Spring Term.

Spring Symposium

The Spring Symposium is an opportunity for all undergraduate students at Eastern Oregon University to showcase and present their creative activities and accomplished studies to fellow students, faculty and the community. Students present on a variety of topics spanning the breadth of scholarly work undertaken on our campus.
