About Dr. Rysdam

Sheri Rysdam earned her BA in English, Discourse Theory, with a minor in Spanish, right here at Eastern Oregon University! She earned a Masters in Creative Writing from Western Washington University and a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Washington State University. After graduation, she worked as Associate Professor at Utah Valley University before coming to EOU.

Dr. Rysdam directs the EOU Writing Center and teaches various courses in the department of English/Writing. She actively publishes and presents in the areas of Teaching College Composition, Responding to Student Writing, Rhetorics of Political Economy, Social Class, Labor, Power, Feminist Medical Rhetorics, Doula Work, Literacy, and she writes poetry and creative prose as well. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, gardening, spending time with her small flock of sheep, practicing and teaching yoga, serving as a doula, and spending time with her family.
