Brandon Monroe is an Associate Professor in the EOU CUESTE program located at Mt Hood Community College in Gresham. This program prepares students to become elementary educators, including endorsements in Reading and ESOL. Because of his background in special education, Brandon teaches courses in child development and special education. However, his specialization was in literacy development and interventions, so he also teaches many of the reading and language arts courses in the program. Brandon also supervises students in their practicums and student teaching, and he has become more involved in teaching and mentoring in the MS program as well.<br />Before coming to EOU, Brandon taught in the Reading Specialist program at Eastern Connecticut State University, a program that he helped to redesign and get accredited by the state. He was also in charge of revamping the Secondary English Education program, which he also got nationally accredited. Before that, he taught in the Graduate Reading program at Southern Connecticut State University, preparing teachers to become Reading Specialists.

Brandon’s research interests include anything to do with literacy interventions, including both reading and writing. He has published in The Elementary School Journal, Journal of Education Research, and Reading and Writing Quarterly, among others. He has also presented at conferences for the American Education Research Association, Council or Exceptional Children, and Pacific Coast Research Conference, along with several state and regional conferences.
