Rooted In Love Training

EOU DEIB Professional Development 2024-2025
The DEIB is collaborating with Rooted In Love LLC to bring IMPACT Equity and IDEAL student training to Eastern Oregon University. “Dr. Jeremiah J. Sims, Rachel Sims, M.A., and their esteemed colleagues offer a revolutionary, love-based approach to race, equity, inclusion, and justice (REIJ) coaching, training, strategy, and program development in educational and professional environments”.
This year’s training is designed to support students, faculty, and staff in creating a welcoming and inclusive campus environment by addressing the structures and cultures within higher education that impact holistic learning. Emphasizing love as praxis, the program centers on the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to empower participants to cultivate a sustainable community where individuals from underserved populations can thrive.

Through a tailored curriculum that incorporates critical reflection, practical tools, and community engagement, students will gain the skills to foster empathy and justice, while faculty and staff will acquire justice-centered pedagogical practices. By deconstructing traditional educational theories and focusing on culturally informed, equitable approaches, the program aims to enhance retention and engagement, ultimately building a supportive and inclusive campus for all.
