Welcome to the website for the Black Student Union at Eastern Oregon University! Our organization strives to serve and represent the students around the diaspora that attend Eastern Oregon University through a series of culturally, socially, and academically focused programming. In addition we strive to share with the greater Eastern Oregon community elements of the African and African American experience.
The purpose of the Black Student Union of Eastern Oregon University is to foster a sense of community among all students of the African Diaspora at EOU. Our mission is to stimulate the intellectual, political, cultural, and social growth of all EOU students. Through enriching programs such as General Meetings, our Leadership and Mentoring Program, and community service, we seek to educate ourselves and the larger Eastern Oregon community, in hopes that awareness will spark action and ignite change in our communities. In addition, the Black Student Union shall serve as a resource to all other groups on campus serving students of the African Diaspora. It is our belief that “men and women of ordinary ability become Pillars of Strength when aroused by desire, stimulated by action.”
