Oregon East Homepage

The editor must be a part-time upper division or graduate student of Eastern Oregon University. The applicant must be an upper division student in good standing with the university and have completed a minimum of twelve credit hours of creative writing (fiction, poetry, and non-fiction).

The responsibilities of the editor include but are not limited to the following:

  • Distribution and promotion of Oregon East in Fall quarter
  • Creating and submitting a budget to the Student Fees Committee
  • Calling for submissions of writing and art work through campus media
  • Read manuscripts and make decisions on accepting and rejecting work
  • Maintain regular office hours
  • Establishing deadlines for submissions of copy
  • Layout and design of the magazine
  • Proofreading
  • Maintaining a working relationship with the advisor of the magazine
  • Orientating the new editor
