The 354th Army Gold Club at Eastern Oregon University begins its history in 1940, where it was used to train pilots for World War II. In 1991 the 354th Army Gold Club was officially instated as a commissioning source at Eastern Oregon State College when it became a green to gold program. The program then transitioned to an ROTC program in 2009. It has since been a source of officers for 3/116 CABCT, as well as many other units across the Oregon Guard.
EOU ROTC prides itself on physical fitness, military professionalism, and high level fieldcraft. This comes from a rich history of National Guardsmen commissioning through EOU ROTC, and the adverse weather conditions that we train in throughout the year. The unofficial company motto, “Electos Filios Legion”, loosely translates to “The Brigade’s Elite.” EOU has always prided itself on being the best company of ROTC cadets in the state and strives to outperform all other ROTC programs in every aspect of what it means to be a soldier.
